Defining BIM

Building Information Modeling is a 3D model building engine that uses geometric information, spatial relationships and properties of building components to demonstrate a buildings entire life cycle and its impacts to its surrounding environment. From the first sketch to the final construction piece and further into when a component needs to be changed or replenished. Furthermore, it can be used and understood by anyone that is involved in the process of building. The architects, structural engineers, systems engineers, builders and on to the owners; with BIM they all understand how the building is becomes operational.
